Our Vision

KOREducators wants every child to achieve their dreams. We want to create meaningful relationships between communities and schools. Parents and community members will shape their child’s school environment. Our school community will work together to improve and enhance teaching and learning.

Our Mission

KOREducators  is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to:

·         Empowering Individuals: To develop student’s leadership skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a strong sense of self efficacy to help them achieve their personal, academic, and community goals.

·         Enriching Communities: To engage students in community-based learning, which will strengthen their ties to each other and the broader community while addressing neighborhood needs.

·         Shaping Education: To combine educational research with innovative applications of service learning, a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, and other strong academic practices that can be used as a model to achieve excellence in all Portland Public Schools.

Our Values - The following principles will guide us as we achieve our mission:

Integrity We will earn the respect and cooperation of our communities and students by being truthful, modest, and transparent.

Excellence We commit ourselves to the success of our students and our school through continual improvement. We reject the notion that any individual is incapable of learning, and pledge to provide the resources and the support necessary for every student, teacher, and staff member to achieve excellence.

Innovation The creation of educational environments that empower individuals and enrich communities requires a willingness to try new ideas. Our practice will incorporate research, demonstrate results, and share successes.

Collaboration We believe that people prosper when working together. We will not succeed unless we build close relationships with participants throughout the educational community, the local community, and within our own organization.

Diversity Diversity strengthens society and should be recognized, explored, and encouraged. We will promote diversity within our classrooms, instructional practices, curriculum, and community.
