Nicholas Knudsen, Curriculum and Internship Consultant

Nick is responsible for supporting the academic planning and curriculum design efforts for the KOREducators schools. Nick currently works as the Corporate Connections Program Coordinator at Open Meadow Alternative Schools in Portland, where he is responsible for the development of the internship program and job training curriculum. He obtained his masters degree in Education from Stanford University, where he specialized in curriculum development and educational philosophy. Through his studies, he conducted research at Marin School of Arts and Technology, one of the New Tech Foundation's replication charter schools with a strong project-based approach. He also worked with staff at Marin Academy High School to develop environmental science curriculum. Nick designed service learning curriculum as a staff member in the Education Department at Cornell University, where he graduated cum laude, earning a Bachelors of Science with an emphasis in Education. At Cornell, he taught a section of Adolescent Psychology and worked with the custodial staff to help them earn their high school diplomas. While in Ithaca, Nick worked as an aide at TST BOCES, a high school for at-risk youth, and at Cayuga Heights Elementary School.

Reese Lord, High School Program Director

Reese is responsible for providing leadership for the daily operations in KOREducators schools. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from Willamette University, where his studies focused on marketing and nonprofit management. While pursuing his MBA, he worked on several consulting projects in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors including a successful $350,000 grant for a charter elementary school. Reese received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics as well as a Masters of Teaching from the University of Virginia and brings a wealth of problem solving experience in education and management consulting by providing analysis, facilitation, leadership, and creativity. Prior to joining KOREducators, he spent five years teaching Social Studies at the middle and high school levels. While at Colonial Heights Middle School in Virginia, Reese served as the school's software committee chair and led several workshops on integrating technology in the classroom. He has had numerous experiences collaborating with colleagues in talented and gifted, special education, and interdisciplinary teaching. Currently, Reese works as a fiscal analyst for the State Department of Consumer and Business Services.

Adam Reid, Director of Community & Public Relations

Adam brings development, managerial, and innovative teaching experience to KOREducators. He earned his Masters in Education at Stanford University, specializing in education reform, policy, and management by taking classes in both the Graduate School of Business and the Graduate School of Education. While at Stanford, Adam researched charter school development using several charter management companies such as Leadership and Aspire Public Schools, and KIPP. Before attending Stanford, Adam helped launch Ethos, Inc., a nonprofit multicultural music center in North Portland, where he started and managed multiple programs that brought music education to underserved youth and communities. At Portland State University, Adam graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Philosophy and worked for several years as a Student Leader for Service and a University Studies Peer Mentor. In these roles, he taught several classes to freshman and sophomore students, and connected other students to the community through service learning. Altogether, Adam has volunteered over 7,200 hours, which includes two years with AmeriCorps, and has received several awards for his leadership in community service. In addition to working at KOReducators, Adam teaches at Portland State University in the Univerisity Studies Department(UNST).
